This week I took some time to explore the Open Education Movement. This is an incredibly relevant movement to myself as a pre service teacher and something I haven’t heard a lot about until now. I found this video Why Open Education Matters (from Blink Tower on Vimeo) to be really useful in giving a basic overview of what Open Education looks like.

Open Education and OER are great way to make learning accessible, relevant, and current in todays world. At first when I head that teachers can edit and contribute to these resources I worried about the legitimacy of them. However, the video also mentions later how many prestigious educational facilities are using Open Education an I think that really shows how significant and useful this information is.

As a future educator I love the accessibility that comes with OER and I can not wait to explore them further and implement them into my own teaching practice.
