This week I came back from my midterm check in and started to focus on some new rudiments. This is the week of single and double stroke rolls. I turned to youtube to get some examples and instructional videos to aid me in learning the technique and I found some really useful ones which I will list bellow.

Being able to actually see both rudiments and have them broken down helped me to more easily grasp the technique. I found single stroke to be slightly challenging only because it is difficult to get the speed without adding too much tension to my arms and hands. It is coming so far but I definitely need a little practice on making sure I am not tense when I play. The double stroke roll was a lot easier. As you’ll see in the my practice video it sometimes takes me a moment to get in the groove of using an even consistent double stroke. Once it evens out a bit I find it relatively easy to get the speed to a spot that is adequate for a roll rudiment. Overall it was a good week for practice, I have to remind myself to do a little every day so I can slowly build the technique.

Here is this weeks practice video!
