The digital age of teaching and learning means that there are many applications that can be used to enhance and redefine the education experience. I had the opportunity this past week to explore a program that could be used for a multitude of educational activities and assessments. This particular program is Twine! This program is a great way to create “choose your own adventure” digital stories. The possibilities of using Twine in education are virtually endless and one thing I love about it is how accessible it is. I thought at first this would be some difficult computer program full of complex coding that is far beyond my understanding of internet technology. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by how easy and straightforward this program is to use. If any troubles do emerge there is a huge amount of tutorials out there to guide teachers and learners everywhere.
An app that I am beginning to see more and more in the education world is google classroom. Again I love the accessibility of this program. Teachers can use google classroom for grading, creating assignments, and communication. Students can even actively participate in class and access resources right from their phones using the google classroom app. I think google classroom is an excellent way to not only integrate technology in the classroom but also streamline the education process. In this current age of online school and online learning this app is a perfect fit. Once again there is tons of resources out there to help teach educators and students how to use google classroom in a valuable way.
I recognize that sometimes the inclusion of all these apps, programs, and various technologies can somewhat complicate things. I am of the group of educators, however, that recognize that although some of these options may not be useful many of them can be. The only way to find out what works for you and your students is to try them out yourself.
